In the more than two decades since the world wide web was invented, the amount of information and the number of learning related tools available to teachers and students has expanded to levels unimaginable two decades ago. A motivated learner can find information on virtually any topic in seconds, and often presented in a variety of contexts and media. In a very real sense, learning outside of school has become something as easy to access as the phone in the palm of your hand. Learning for most of us, outside of school certainly, is a deeply personal experience. This NMC Horizon Project Strategic Brief explores the field of personalised learning, addressing privacy considerations and illuminating the current landscape of related learning analytics and adaptive learning technologies.
This special edition of the NMC Horizon Project Strategic Brief series is a collaboration between the NMC and Kennisnet, and is published jointly by the two organisations.
